I get it, you’re not getting ahead, you’ve been stuck in the same position for a while, people are getting promoted ahead of you, people that you used to manage are getting ahead of you. Someone in your company doesn’t like you and that’s the reason why you are not moving forward.

Then one of the worst things happens. Some young punk gets promoted who is 10 years younger than you. This guy is a moron. Management must be a bunch of idiots to promote this tool.

Well the clock is ticking. It’s time to figure things out.

What Are You Going to Do?

Well first things first, it’s time to step up and take responsibility. This situation is all your fault. No one else’s. Not the punk kids’, not management, not your coworkers. Just you. The faster you realize this the better off you’ll be.

Work Harder!

Stop complaining, work harder and you’ll see results. It’s not complicated.

People usually get ahead because they are working harder than you. They might be smarter, better looking, more popular, whatever, but you need to work harder than anyone else.

Work harder... and communicate! 

If you are in a doldrum you can continue what you are doing. but know that if you are not going to change either your attitude or actions, nothing is going to change.

Change begins with you. 

Start with Communication 

Talk to the powers that be and make a plan for yourself. Let your company know where you want to be. If they haven’t promoted you yet, there is a reason. Most of the time organizations are not run by a team of idiots. These people got there for a reason.

Ask if the organization has a succession plan for you and if they have any tips for you to get ahead. 

The other option you have is to quit and start over somewhere else. If you don’t like the situation you are in, and you don’t think the situation will ever change, then change it. Take your life into your own hands and move on. People change jobs all the time.
